The time seems to be flying by as edge closer to the most anticipated faery event of the spring, to start off the UK Faery season!

So, what’s in store???

The Avalon Faery Fayre starts at 10.30am  until 5pm on Saturday 10th March at the Glastonbury Town Hall, Magdalene Street, Glastonbury, Somerset, BA6 9EL, UK – On Sunday the doors open at 11am until 4.30pm,  ENTRY IS FREE on both days to the Faery Fayre. There will be refreshments available in the hall all weekend provided by the Giggling Goblin’s! After the Faery Fayre is the Avalon Faery Ball, see the next newsletter for details of this exciting night of faery delight!

For over 35 years, Brian Froud has been regarded as the pre-eminent faerie artist in the world and an authority on faeries and faerie lore. His international best-selling book, ‘Faeries’ with fantasy and Tolkien illustrator Alan Lee is considered a modern classic. He has worked as conceptual designer on feature films ‘The Dark Crystal’, Labyrinth, and other Henson projects. In this unique talk Brian will talk about the world of the Frouds, and also give us a peek at some of the new Troll art from his forthcoming book on Trolls! Brian and his wife, Wendy, will be available during the weekend to sign your books and prints. They will also be special guests at the Avalon Faery Ball.

I wanted to tell you about a really special workshop taking place at the Avalon Faery Fayre this March, it’s a WENDY FROUD MASTERCLASS!

Conceptual designer and sculptor, Wendy Froud has made her name creating characters like the Gelflings, (The Dark Crystal). This intimate demonstration will show how Wendy interprets sketches and then sculpts, paints and finishes puppets ( in this case, armatured figures – not hand puppets!). Wendy will talk about each stage of this process in this special master class.

The workshop takes place on Saturday 10th March 2012 from 2.30 until 4.30 and the fee is £20 per person. Places are limited so advance booking is essential. Call 01736 330201 or visit to book online here

Time is flying by and it will soon be time to make our way to Glastonbury in the heart of  Avalon for the Samhain/Halloween Faery weekend on the 29th and 30th October.

The Avalon Faery Fayre is a FREE event which takes place on the Samhain/Halloween weekend of the 29th and 30th October at Glastonbury Town Hall. Doors open from 10.30am until 5pm on Saturday and from 11am until 5pm on Sunday! entry is FREE! All events during the weekend are sponsored by FAE Magazine

3. The Avalon Children’s Faery Ball: For the first time ever we are holding a Children’s Faery Ball hosted by the beautiful Sparkle the Fairy and friends!  The Children’s Faery Ball takes place during the daytime in the small hall at Glastonbury Town Hall from 2.30pm on Saturday 29th October.

4. The Avalon Faery Buffet – A feast fit for a Faery: Takes place on Sunday 30th October after the fayre from 6.30pm until 9.30pm at the 100 Monkeys Cafe on Glastonbury High Street. There are limited spaces available for this veritable feast so be sure to reserve your spaces here at only £10 a head: Please note drinks and sweets are extra. All diets are catered for from Vegan to Carnivore.

Preparations are well underway for the spring Avalon Faery Ball and free Faery Fayre on 12th and 13th March at Glastonbury Town Hall. Special guest artists Josephine Wall and Linda Ravenscroft will be in attendance along with many more talented artists and craftspeople.  At the Faery Ball music will be provided by the fairytastic ‘Freyia’ and the mighty ‘Dolmen’, plus there will be Faery Belly Dancing with Cara, and a Faerie Fashion show too.
